Not seeing many list messages in past few days...

Hey folks I'm looking for networking hardware, hopefully
"better"/more durable/flexible than the "usual stuff" &
alternative to BigC. Think I read on this list sometime
back that someone had really good experience with Ubiquiti.
Who might that have been? Or maybe I was dreaming and/or
Smoking Something Really Good or consumed Too Much Ale? :)
Looking for possible off-list contact as appropriate. Thanks, -k

I have ubuquiti wireless at home. Works great. Also have some 16 port 10G SFP+/RJ45 switches at work. Those all support management with a gui that does run on linux. The hardware works quite well. I've had some issues with copper SFP cables claiming to be "ubiquity capable".

There are several versions that are rj45 based with the same gui.

The gui provides port controls, status, link aggregation (numerical sequence only - bonding 1, 4, 6, and 13 won't work).

The most useful thing for my use is the units support the dual frequency fiber modules that support 10G bidirectional over a single fiber strand.

Echoing the vote for Ubiquiti. I have two AP Lite APs at the house
connected to a PFSense router. Never had any issues with them. I have a
friend who runs a community WISP up in north GA that runs off Ubiquiti
AirFiber gear. Haven't heard anything but good things from him too.

Same here. Ubiquiti AC-PRO 1300 + Ubiquiti 8 port switch (4 PoE) + pfSense.
Plan to replace my 24 port Netgear switch with a Ubiquiti switch so I can
get VLANs across all of my ports. You can run their management software
locally or via their management dongle product. However, my plan is to skip
the dongle and migrate my local software a more 24/7 solution
